We were recommended this spot from a few people when planning our trip to New Orleans and I'm SO glad we made reservations to go. We came on Valentine's Day and they had a great pre fixe menu available. We had the goat cheese and shrimp crepe, the red fish, the pork chop (for my partner), the chocolate tarte and the bread pudding. Whatever you do, get the crepe. That is the most delicious thing I had in New Orleans. I loved the creamy rich sauce it came with! I have never had red fish and I really enjoyed it. Dessert was ok. I didn't care for the bread pudding. Our servers were wonderful and efficient without rushing us. We were sat near the window and they had these interesting hanging dividers for decor that made it feel like a private seating for us! On the way out they gave me a rose and I thought that was a nice touch for Valentine's Day.

First trip to NOLA ever and Muriel's did not disappoint. We got the dinner set and the kids got chicken tenders. My husband got the gumbo, shrimp and grits, and crème brûlée. I got the Tasso, fish, and bread pudding. We shared everything. The shrimp and grits and bread pudding were utterly divine. The Tasso, chicken tenders, and fish were quite tasty as well. Ambience and service were top notch. Honestly- my personal favorite restaurant in NOLA! Love this place and we will be back!!

We are now across the big Atchafalaya Swamp, 2.5 hours away, and only get to Muriels once or twice a year. This is the ONE New Orleans restaurant we really miss. Muriels is the best overall experience & value of the City's fine dining. Reserve an early supper seating (When we say "Dinner" it means Noon meal). Ask to have apres-diner cocktails or a dessert up on the balcony. If the upper floor isn't reserved, do a bit of snooping, find hidden treasures. Very historic area & building. Bonus: Every Saturday afternoon there are back-to-back weddings @ St. Louis Cathedral across Ste. Ann St. One looks down on the following "second-line'' celebratory parades from Muriels' balcony. Despite its tourist location, Muriels' Bar is still a "local's" meeting place & a great place for a drink. We stay at the next-door Valentino's "Place d'Armes" Hotel, so we can crawl "home''. Try Muriels pecan-crusted fish, super wood grilled pork chops, & crepes. Off menu shrimp remoulade is a fav. Both the creme-brulee & the flourless chocolate cake are wonderful. We found this restaurant while researching for our trip. I thought the "ghost table" would be fun for my 7-year-old daughter so we made a reservation. We were seated upon arrival and my daughter asked the host if the ghost table was there and they said "yes it's around the corner in the next room." We went and looked and saw nothing. She later asked the server and she was happy to show us where it was. You had to open and go through a door that was not propped open or labeled. I never wander into closed doors into restaurants so we never would have found it otherwise. No one mentioned it on their own without us asking. So, know before you go - it's there and fun for kids to see! If no one mentions it, ask them to show you. You can also wander upstairs to see a seance room (not scary). Our servers were attentive, friendly and helpful! We had 2 tag-teaming. There were not specials due to the change of the seasons so we opted for the pre-fixe menu. For appetizers, we had the scallops (3 per order) and the lamb empanadas (2 per order). We then had pre-fixe. I had the pasta, shrimp and grits, and creme brulee. The food was very good. There is a kids menu! My daughter got chicken tenders and fries. They were the best I've ever had. The fries tasted like they were cut in house. The chicken tenders were real chicken and not too breaded. I'm not sure if there is an official dress code. Most men had on a shirt with a collar. However, there were plenty of tourists and others who rolled in wearing t-shirts and a few in shorts.

A fancy restaurant with a dress code. You must wear a collard shirt. Though we saw men with out collars so I'm not sure how strict they are. It is a very fancy place so I'd see why you want to dress up. He wore a collared shirt and slacks and due to it was a cold December day I also wore slacks and a blouse. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar beforehand. Our dinner was at 5:30 pm and we arrived at 4 pm as the museums closed at 4pm. Thankfully there was bar seating available when we arrived, but it filled up fast as it was happy hour. They have an additional lounge upstairs, we didn't check it out, but it sounded plush. Around 5 we checked in at the front. Our table was ready so we got seated early. We sat in the first room on your right when you walk in. The room is cozy and they hang picturesque panels to give you privacy. We were greeted by the wait staff immediately. They brought us water and bread and took our drink orders. As it turns out they only serve banana fosters during there weekend brunch. That was really disappointing. The restaurant was warm enough that I didn't need my jacket. It was the perfect temperature. I ordered the 3 course meal. I started with the salad, shrimp and grits were the main, and ended with warm bread pudding. My husband got the pork chop. It was so meaty that he couldn't finish it. We split the salad and there was enough for each of us. We also split the dessert. The shrimp and grits were heavenly. So much better than expected. They were so buttery. The bread pudding was superb. It reminded me of a warm cinnamon roll with a warm caramel glaze. Since it was our anniversary they came out with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a candle on it and we each made a wish. This is definitely a special occasion type of place. It's fancy but not too fancy. I saw 2 couple dresses to the 9s. If it were warmer I could see myself coming in a dress. I felt comfortable in slacks. This is not your jeans and sweatshirt type of place. I highly recommend coming here for a special dinner. Service impeccable and the food is delicious.

Out of my whole trip in Nola, I think this was the best dinner place. The food was flavorful and the place was a yet another wonderful cozy restaurant. The service was good and we were well taken care of. We decided to go with the three course menu for $55 pp Turtle soup: 8/10 flavorful but I think I would skip out on the sherry next time Tasso carbonara: 8/10 heavy Parmesan flavor and pretty filling Pecan crusted drum: 10/10 wonderful flavor paired with the tangy sauce, there was a heavy fishy flavor either. sadly we couldn't finish our entrees because of the appetizers so we took the rest to go and they didn't include the sauce :( Wood grilled pork chop: 10/10 we could preference how well to cook it?? It was unheard of for cooking pork but we got ours medium well because the waitress suggested it and it was perfect-- plenty tender and the collard greens added a nice pickled flavor.

I waited last minute, but luckily Muriel's had availability for my husband's birthday dinner. I didn't know about the ghost table, so by the time I tried to book it, it was already reserved. Next time. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation, but they were running a little bit behind so we had time to enjoy the seance rooms upstairs. Pretty neat set up. Lots of good photo opportunities. Our servers were awesome! Everything from cocktails to dessert was fantastic! Even their bread service is amazing. I got their beet salad and their blacked redfish and I was happy. Fish is a hard thing to please me with and they did it. They had a seasonal pumpkin crème brûlée that I ordered too. They brought my husband a pecan dessert with ice cream and candles! It was truly a great experience. I would definitely come back here and I highly recommend!!
